Ranking NYC AMC Theaters?
So i know most/all of the NYC AMC theaters are pretty gross, but i thought it would be fun to rank them & see if there is consensus
34th Street - big screens, recliners with heat. minus points for having one bathroom on the most inconvenient floor miles away from dolby theater
19th St - the screens are kinda tiny, and the recliners barely recline, but it feels clean since they renovated. i fell through a broken seat in the pre-renovated theater while seeing dunkirk, so anything is better than THAT
Lincoln Square - only ranks this high if you are seeing dolby in the balcony. otherwise, hope your neck is fine (rodent sightings: many, specifically during scream 6)
Village 7 (NYU) - this theater was made for children. i can’t explain it, but it’s true. maybe the way the endless escalators are set up like a jungle gym. outdated but charming.
84th St (UWS) - similar to Village 7, but it’s made for teenagers who just want to fight. i onetime saw a guy use a folding lawn chair in the wheelchair space for he and his gf to share while watching halloween
Kips Bay - the second most “liminal space” NYC AMC. i’m positive someone has been m*rdered here. lil cute charming theaters but the projector bulbs are always half dead/the screens are dark. plus, who goes to kips bay?
42nd St - you will catch a rare disease here. this is where the concept of liminal space originated - the empty 90s-carpeted hallways go on for decades. nobody works here. it’s abandoned, and yet you can still go see films? that one loooong escalator is a saw trap. dave & busters deserves better!!!!! (rodent sightings: more mice than people attending a movie on any given day)
*** never been to the UES, Harlem, or the NJ mall AMCs, someone advise ***
did i eat this?
