What pets count as exotic now?

I always thought they were the pets from the Jungle and Safari eggs. More recently I've seen people calling stuff like African wild dog exotic and I thought that was fair enough but today I saw a girl offering for something and asked "do you want random exotics for it?" and she put in some random stuff including ant and ghost and the other girl said "ants are exotic?" and then the first girl replied "Idk apparently haha my preppy friend called them exotics" and then the other girl just said 'Wow I didn't know that!' so what qualifies as an 'exotic' to you?
