How did philosophy of a given period influence the "real world" (i.e. that outside of philosophical academia)?

As someone learning some philosophy right now, it seems that philosophy often has very important conclusions on paper. A lot of philosophy is concerned with (in my opinion) the fundamental issues of the world: what exists, what we can know, how we should act, etc.

Yet, in much of my education, I don't hear how these conclusions affect the world outside of philosophy. While I'm aware of the influence of some philosophers (Aristotle advising Alexander, Clausewitz influencing modern military strategy), I find that the topic is often overlooked.

I recognize this question is broad, so to hone it down, I'd like to ask the two following questions:

What examples do we have of philosophy influencing the world outside of philosophical academia?

What sources/resources explore the aforementioned topic?

Thanks in advance.
