Are relationships really a number's game?

I read somewhere that relationships are a numbers game. That doesn't make sense to me. Takes me a while to talk to a girl. I don't like talking to a lot of women, she has to be the right person. She has to impress me so much for me to shoot my shot and I usually miss it because my type is nerdy, innocent looking girls. How is this a numbers game!? Can't be possible that there is lots of you guys talking to 100s of girls! I know my buddy does. He talks to every girl in the gym and he says sometimes he gets the number, sometimes he doesn't. He doesn't care!
