Help me play the game like a visual novel

I normally don't play video games, but I enjoy ttrpgs and a friend really recommended Bg3. I really don't care about combat mechanics, but I think the story line and dialogue is really interesting to explore.

Can you recommend some mods to help me beast through combat and just wrap things up quickly? What character class is best to start with? I'm playing on PC.

I know multiplayer is an option but it's not practical for me right now. Thanks in advance!
