Dealer refused to address a manufacturer defect because it was not where I bought it from
Leased a brand new Blazer last week. After bringing it home, noticed wind noise on the driver's door side. Was hoping it will go away, it didn't (why would it). Took it today to a local dealer (not the one I bought it from) and was told that they can't service a vehicle which is that new, I have to take it to a dealer I bought it from. Is that the norm? The other dealer is an hour away. If it's indeed a rule, something to keep in mind for potential buyers.
P.S. Called the selling dealer, made an appointment (a month away). Asked them if there is some rule like that when it comes to servicing manufacturer's defects on brand new cars. They said it's a total lie, the other dealer just didn't want to deal with it.
UPDATE: Called the Service Manager, they said, yes absolutely we will service your car. So... perhaps just a rogue technician or maybe just a new one.
