What's the point of "removing" buzz astral?

It still counts his trophies even after new season started but he's gone. Like couldn't they let us have him until the END of previous season and then just remove him? Istg I was speedruning his mastery on last few days and randomly got into the game to find out he vanished early and it feels bad
