Jerky downshift in sport mode

My 300 has about 80k miles and for a while I’ve been experiencing a really jerky downshift going from 3rd to 2nd gear while letting the rpm’s just drop but it’s only in sport mode. Does anybody know what this could mean or leak to or experience it themselves?
