Let a texting conversation end for the night instead of pushing
I hesitate to say I don't pick up on signals. I prefer to say that I ignore them. I can often tell when somebody is done for the night but I'm so scared they won't come back I push for more. Which usually makes them not come back. But this time was different. I saw the sign, recognized it, internally acknowledged it, and followed it. They sent a normal length text with kind of s conversation closer, I sent a similarly in length response, they sent a short follow up, I sent a short acknowledgement, they sent a tiny acknowledgement. Makes more sense with the actual text but hopefully the point comes across.
This means I a) didn't annoy them b) showed I can see the sign c) am now the one who did not respond (wasn't needed). This feels good. Feels right. I think I'm finally starting to break my infinite positive feedback loops.
