Bibigo items at my local Costco a few weeks ago. I’d say meh 2/5 stars

Spicy Mushroom Soup -

  • 2/5 stars if you have it as is since to me it’s kinda bland and one note. Needs extra stuff in it. Reminds me of a yukgaejang soup.

  • 5/5 stars if you had stuff in it and makes as a good base for similar soups style. I added in “old” kimchi, enoki mushroom, tofu, garlic, splash of dashida and some more gochucharu since it wasn’t spicy enough for me. Also added an egg to thicken the soup

Fried Rice

1/5 stars - I don’t have the box anymore to double check since I gave majority of it away. But it wasn’t the greatest, you’re better off making your own fried rice. It tasted like it was made with brown rice so the texture was throwing me off, I even microwaved it a bit longer than instructed to see if it was just needing a bit more time. Flavor wise it reminds me of the smell of beef flavored cup noodles with the dried carrots and dried beef in it , weird description but that’s what it reminded me off the bat after trying this. I was only able to make it enjoyable by eating it with dried seaweed. Definitely skip it.

If you’ve had legitimate Korean food, these aren’t worth it. I’d say these are kinda geared for the western pallet, same with their mandu. I’ve had other Bibigo packaged soups/soup bases before, but those were imported from Korea and in my opinion they taste different than from these stateside. I’d still pick another Korean brand than Bibigo when it comes to ready to eat stuff.
