New rules for adulthood.

It seems like making 18 the legal age to be an adult is arbitrary and useless. Most people think it’s too old or too young so it’s not the right age for most people. It’s also not correlated to anything relevant to adulthood.

So I made up my own rules. I’m not a politician so this is nothing more than a thought experiment so don’t blow up the comments with shit about me being a pedo or something stupid.

So heres my solution:

You legally become an adult if you meet any of these criteria:

1: At least 21 years old

2: At least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED

C: At least 18 years old and are serving in the military and completed basic training.

4: At least 16 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, and are attending college.

$: at least 16 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, and are working full time.

Once you are an adult you can do adult things like drink, gamble, enter into contracts, consent to sex, and all the other things adults do. Adulthood can only be revoked if you:

1: became an adult under false pretenses (ie faked a high school diploma)

3: became an adult through military service and were dishonorably discharged

B: became an adult through full time employment and lost full time employment within 6 months of adulthood.
