To the people that love Dragon age Veilguard like me, here is my advice for the future...
So I loved Veilguard with all my hearts just like many of you. It's not a perfect game but it has so many genuine great moments that will remain in my memories forever.
You certainly know about the difficult reception of DAV and how hard it can be to be a dragon age Veilguard fans without getting tons of backlash.
So here is my advice for people who loves DAV and wants to continue to openly like it while keeping their sanity :
- Do not interact with the negativity, or at least be strategic about it.
If you realise that one part of the internet is especially hatefull towards DAV, no need to stay there.
If they are biggots that complains about "woke DEI" there is absolutely no point in speaking with them.
Before you lose your limited time arguing with people who have no interests in being good faith. Don't hesitate to look at the subreddit the people goes to. If you see them coming from anti-woke or elitist gaming subreddit, it's not necessary to lose your mind arguing with them.
Blocking can be especially usefull in those case to preserve your sanity. You can still engage with people with constructive criticsm but make sure that the people you engage discussion with are worth the time and efforts.
2. Interract with the positivity
When a huge part of internet community start to shit on something you like, the best thing to do is to instead of fighting that negativity is to encourage the positivity.
- Share and like the artwork on twitter who are being done about our new companion and characters.
- Make post on this subreddit and tell people how much you enjoy the game and focus on the aspect you think DAV did best.
- When someone ask if they are looking for a game, mentions them DAV if they might be interested.
- Share your rook.
The algorith on youtube, reddit and twitter will react to your activity there and you will help the game being known more positively by the internet community at large. And by sharing your enjoyment you will send a positive image of the game and it's community.
Bioware and the dragon age franchise will not gain anything if you feel miserable. Your unhappyness will not help. Dragon age Veilguard needs your love and joy more than it needs your suffering.
