I'm about to start my first Dragon's Dogma 1 playthrough. Any tips or things I should be aware of before zi start?

I plan to eventually platinum it but I plan to take my time with that game. Nevertheless I would like some tips just to avoid some commonly made mistakes or not fallen victim to game breaking problems. Thanks!
