Will DXM hit even if u ate

I took 600mg DXM a little over 3 hours ago and have felt nothing yet but I think it's because I ate a lot earlier today. I was curious if it's still going to kick in just a lot later or if i just wasted the rest of my DXM lmao

edit: I just SLEPT through the high I woke up dizzy as hell
