What food is your "Kryptonite" when it comes to binging?
This is the food where you find it extremely difficult not to binge when you come across it or downright impossible when you encounter it during periods of extreme physical hunger where you're absolutely ravenous.
My Kryptonite is Whole Wheat Bread. That can be either regular Whole Wheat Bread, Bagels, Naan Bread, Pita Bread, Tortilla Wraps, etc. I can easily finish a pack of Whole Wheat Bagels or an entire loaf of Whole Wheat Bread at any given time. I find myself losing control and it's impossible for me to stop once I start eating these.
My cravings for whole wheat bread are so bad to the point that I had to completely revise my meal plan and replace all meals containing whole wheat bread with salads. As of the moment, I'm on an "indefinite hiatus" when it comes to whole wheat bread. I'm not going to buy it when I go to the grocery. If it's not in the house, I can't binge on it. I've acknowledged the fact that I don't have the willpower to prevent myself from binging if whole wheat bread is nearby.
I have the restrictive type of anorexia and this is the only food that I can truly count as my "Kryptonite". It's the only thing that triggers non-frequent binges for me. I have other "semi-weaknesses" when it comes to food such as Cottage Cheese, Vanilla Ice Cream or Popcorn. I could easily finish an entire tub of Cottage Cheese, several scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream or a large popcorn from Cineplex at any given time but the cravings I experience for these are nowhere near as intense as the cravings I experience for whole wheat bread. As a matter of fact, the only time I consume these with reckless abandon is if I had previously binged on Whole Wheat Bread and I had adopted a "screw it" mindset. These foods would never trigger a binge for me on their own even if I came across them during periods of extreme hunger. I might indulge in a bag of popcorn, a few scoops of ice cream, or an entire tub of low-fat cottage cheese which isn't that bad in terms of calories, but I would never go overboard with any of these. Whole Wheat Bread is the only thing that can make me go overboard and lose control. Whole Wheat Bread is the only food that has the power to do that to me.
