FFXVI armor designs make no sense

Clives armor for instance has fully armored legs and arms but a completely exposed chest and shoulders, where as his first outfit he wears as wyvern is actually pretty practical and makes sense. then you see all of these other NPCs who have just pauldrons on their shoulders but no armor anywhere else. i would have atleast given clive a fully armored costume as a choice but i just dont really get the design choicce for any of the npc or even clives armor
