Crushed Ego After Retiring?

$1.5M net worth.

$1M in my stock portfolio $500K paid off house. 35 years old

I think I could FIRE comfortably with a stock portfolio of $2M. I have 5 kids and I feel like expenses will just keep going up and up but $2M seems like a safe number.

This may sound silly but if I could quit my job today and work for fun, I would consider doing something like Uber or DoorDash. It seems low stress and you can make your own schedule.

After working in corporate America for so long, I feel like my identity and ego are attached to my job and what I do. That’s one of the most common questions we ask people that we meet. “What do you do for a living?”

How do I let go of my ego when I show up at a party and say, “I doordash part time.”

Anyone who has hit FIRE could share their experience?
