Is Accounting Haram?

I am not a muslim yet, but I have been interested in reverting for a while. My main issue, however, is that I am studying accounting and plan to work as an accountant or bookkeeper after university but I heard interest is haram. I am already too far into into my degree to change majors now so i’m kind of stuck.

My question is, is having accounting as a career haram?
