Housing Furniture

So here is a "hypothetical" If I had an ESA-registered cat and they had damaged a leather seat (not the couch, the separate chair) with scratch marks (a GOOD amount of marks) how much do you think the fine would be? I am estimating $800 and would take full responsibility for the fine. I called housing and they said it depended on the damage. What do you guys think? My roommates think $300 but I think they are just trying to make me feel better T_T
