Nigerians love corrupt leaders because they see themselves in them

I’ve been trying to come up with a simple statement as to why a person who barely has food on their table will be fighting fiercely for Tinubu and other corrupt leaders to govern and hate Peter Obi and GRV who want to help them lift themselves out of poverty.

It turns out that most of it comes down to simple psychology. Most Nigerians see their own personal characteristics in corrupt leaders so feel “safe” being ruled by them.

The same thing happens with pastors, it’s why they love Adeboye and Pastor Tobi in London but hate pastors that tell them stolen money must be repaid.

“Good people” that don’t intimidate citizens with their wealth are incomprehensible to them so their natural reaction is anger towards them.

It’s why they will call you a mumu if you help them and even grow to resent you but will fall at the feet of their oppressor.

They see themselves in their oppressors that’s why they hold them in such high regards.

It’s a type of self worship.

For example it’s why if you like kickboxing for example and are a fighter yourself, if you ever see a fighter way above your skill set in action you would be overwhelmed with emotion and support for that person, because you understand it’s not beans to do what they’re doing.

Someone who is not a fighter will be giving you side eye because they will never get it like you.

Same thing with music and musicians

It’s the same thing with stealing, bullying and oppression too, if you are that person inside, you would hold the biggest thieves, bullies, rapists and oppressors in high regards. People who aren’t these things (obidients and the like) will never understand.

So it is wrong to call Tinubu supporters stupid as obidients, they aren’t stupid, they are following their nature and we are following ours

It seems they outnumber us now and no discussion can change their mind.

It’s simple human psychology.
