Was anyone IMPRESSED or blown away by the Mario Kart footage?

Like a lot of people, I'm kinda perplexed with the Mario Kart footage that was shown. Visually it looks basically the same as MK8 with the same art style for the past 13 years.

I'm pretty surprised that this was the footage Nintendo decided to use to introduce the world to their next generation system.

I was wondering if there was anybody that was really impressed by the footage, or is everyone just accepting the visuals in a hold-your-nose and be positive way?
