Never buy the SG-1100

Hi All,

this is just a rant / advise to people to never buy the SG-1100.

basically, I first bought it at launch, and I received it with a known issue that constantly reboot the device. then talked with the support and they admitted the faulty device and issued RMA, and I received a new device about a year ago.

Today, keep in mind that it's been less than a year for the new SG-1100, it was bricked with hardware issue , I talked to the support again, and they said that the device is bricked (eMMC storage has failed) however, it is out of warranty and can't help.

for reall!!!!!! its a 180 US dollars device that is supposed to be reliable. I knew the performance is not the best, but really just wanted to support netgate since pfSense is great software and I don't have heavy load at all.

furthermore, I only use the SG-1100 at my own home with very few people use the internet and extremely light usage. only plugin I had on it is the pfBlockerNG. I had 2 other devices insalled elsewhere (HP T620, and Qotom) and both been running flawlessly for more than 3 years now (both are also cheaper and much more powerful than SG-1100)

not sure about reliability of other netgate devices but they are definitely much more expensive than other options
