Equifax wrongly merged with another person, credit score so low couldn't secure our mortgage

Hi, we seriously need help/advice. I don't know what else to do and we are running out of time. This happened to my husband.

Long story short, Equifax Canada has seriously effed up his credit score because they/the system wrongly merged somebody else's credits to ours, pulling our credit score so low that we couldn't secure our mortgage.

Short story long:My husband and I have the privilege to buy a house, we were pre-approved for a certain amount, and after 8 months of trying, bidding, losing and bidding again, we finally won one. Until one day our mortgage broker reported that our credit score was so low and the lenders just won't accept that (understandably). We found an unfamiliar name and address whose credit was bad, got mixed up with ours hence why our credit score became so low.

Our attempts at fixing this are as follows:

June 08 - We went to an Equifax Canada consumer center, a lady checked our score (was 541) and she found the incorrect names, addresses and credit cards linked to my husband's credit score, and I assume she erases it? I don't know. She checked our ID's. After that I thought we were good as she gave us a report that showed our credit score is now 784, which looks about right (we only check through Borrowell and CIBC).

June 19 - Our mortgage broker called and said she tried to pull out the report and again, still at 541, and we had to go back to a consumer center (Because apparently mortgage brokers aren't allowed to call for the consumer's behalf) and ask them to check again

June 20 - We went to an Equifax consumer center again, and all we got from the staff was "we don't know why it's like that. call customer support", my heart drop I swear like... nobody knows what the F is happening. We called Equifax center and told them all about the mysterious person, address, and credit card that is clearly not us. they made us fill out a dispute form to "change our names", which we filled out cause we trusted the agent that she knows what she's doing. We sent in the form

June 26 - We received an email that says "we updated your account".

June 27 (today) - We pulled out the credit score and it is still wrong!!!! What are we supposed to do? I've been severely stressed about this for the past days as I am pretty sure that if this isn't fixed we will lose the house cause there just isn't any way the lenders would care if we were delayed because of a mistaken Equifax score. We close on July 30

I researched on Reddit/Quora on the same topic, and it seems like it takes MONTHS to fix this error. And I am crying bc can't bear losing the house we so hardly fought for, knowing investors and other false lenders will instead secure better deals than us who are simple people.

I read that if I filed a lawsuit it could help

I read that if I contacted the Premier's office it would help

I read that if I hired a lawyer it would help

Do you think I should start looking into doing this? I originally did not want to do so much bugging if not needed be, but it sure has come to a point of desperation..
