Classic rewards seat availability significantly reduced

As per multiple reports recently, classic reward seats are becoming nearly impossible to find on key routes, esp far out from departure time. It would appear that Qantas is using Classic Plus to effectively drain QF members of their points for as long as possible before releasing more classic reward seats.

Anecdotally, in previous years I would be able to find plenty of supply on ahead of time. This is true both for QF and partner airlines. Now, when searching for seats to the West Coast US as an example, I see nothing for 7+ months on either QF or AA, in all classes above economy. Demand and competition for classic reward seats aside (esp with tools like gyoza etc), there are usually some premium economy or business seats that will pop up from time to time.

I'm curious to hear if others are finding similar issues? At this point I'm feeling pretty compelled to start investing in other ecosystems.
