I think the CubeXX is underrated, let me try sell you on it

I think a lot of people are a little confused by the square screen and think it looks a little goofy perhaps, but after trying quite a few of the budget handhelds now I keep coming back to this one, and I want to explain why you may be sleeping on it.

The controls: I spend a lot of time in this sub and controls are important to people, and I was thinking today how these are some of the best I've felt. They've got that squishy feel, they don't make any noise at all, I love the Sega style D-Pad and it even has two analog sticks which feel comfortable to use.

The screen: What a lot of people may not realize about the Cubes display is that it's actually 720 x 720, which makes a noticeable difference in sharpness and image quality compared to other handhelds I've used with the standard 640 x 480. It's also bright and vibrant. Did I mention it's a 4" display?

The aspect ratio: So let's talk about that square aspect ratio. Here's everything it's great with: GB and GBC look amazing since those devices had almost square displays. NES and SNES can be played in 8:7 and look amazing filling most of the screen in a high res. NDS games play well as you can stack the displays on the same screen. Arcade games are mostly quite vertical which plays amazing on this screen as you have a lot more vertical room than you do on a 4:3 display.

A special shout-out for PICO-8 which is most at home on a square display, and this is just an amazing machine for Pico-8.

As for the stuff that is better suited to a 4:3 display, since the cube has a 4 inch display the actual screen size you get is very close to that of your standard 3.5" 4:3 consoles, so it's not really a compromised experience.

The ergonomics: No complaints on build quality and feel here, the device is light and very comfortable to hold. It's a horizontal device but has these protuding grips on each end which make it very comfy imo, the expense is of course being less pocketable but it's a pretty lightweight device and can be carried around fairly comfortably.

Anyways I just wanted to make this post because people don't talk about this device much and honestly I think it's not just great but also does things really well many other devices don't, it stands out in a good way and I think some people are sleeping on it :)

Edit: Sorry I guess "underrated" is subjective so perhaps the wrong word to have used, just wanted to throw some Cube love out there
