If Im an assistant, would other people in other jobs be willing to take me in as an intern?

So Ive played mostly as an assistant to get use to the mechanics and later on played as a cook, botanist and easy jobs like that, but I dont want to start out as something more important i.e. engeneer in case I happen to be the only one and not be able to start the singularity or any other power sourse and quickly fuck up the round for everyone or have a similar situation. So would it be feasable that someone would take me in and teach me and not instantly think Im trying to get into important areas cause Im a regular mischief assistant?
