Couple of newbie questions

Long time ult player looking to learn ssbm. Not trying to become the next m2k, just get to the point where I can be... not terrible

1. I know there is no actual answer here, but how long does it take to go from complete scrub to... not terrible (my goal lol)

2. Is it worth just starting out as Fox or Falco? I don't really have interest in anyone else

3. Given the 10 million things that are thrown at you as a beginner that you need to learn, where to start? Lol
