Friendly conversation at a mall; is this a possible pyramid scheme/MLM?
I (26F) was recently at a mall by myself and browsing through the shoe section. A woman (mid 30s) was very outgoing and started making small talk with me. Somehow, and unintentionally, we were talking about jobs, husbands/children, where we were from, christmas plans, the fact that she hasn’t been on social media for years, etc. Quickly became a much deeper conversation than just two women who made small talk. She was very kind and friendly, but yellow flags went up a couple of times in my head. At one point, she shared that she works for herself and builds e-commerce apps; only works a couple of hours a week; left her full time job. Later in the conversation, she described it as drop shipping commodity items like toothpaste (which seems different than building apps). She also shared her husband and her are on a 2-year plan to having him also leave his corporate job, and that her friend taught them how to make passive income from these apps/drop ship commodities. We left the conversation exchanging phone numbers and planning to meet for coffee sometime and continue chatting. Does this seem like a genuinely nice person or am I being roped into a MLM? After writing this all, it feels silly to think it’s anything but the latter.
