Looking for feedback + I have a question
Logline: Rural Flanders, 1845. During a nationwide famine, a desperate teenage boy starts killing off local crooks to feed them to his starving sister and widow mother. Meanwhile, his curious police neighbor is lurking...
Genre: crime/drama/comedy
This is an idea for a feature that I came up with a while ago. I almost forgot about it until I read through my writings.
Overall question: I don't know if I should write in English or in my mother language which is Dutch. I've only just started writing down loglines and outlining stories but I've got a few very good connections to people in the film business because of my job at a production company. I feel like writing in Dutch would increase my chances if I ever write something that's good enough.
Second question: because of this territory thing, I feel like a lot rules I read in books like 'Save the cat' don't apply to the filmmaking in my country because they're not blockbusters but indie films. For example, some loglines for the movies in my country don't have an outspoken antagonist in the logline. How do you cope with that? Should I stick to Hollywood or try to incorporate elements that I see people are doing here?
Thanks a lot!
