New 2tb Recovery drive keeps beeping and won’t show up on my MacBook

I’m on the newest MacOS no betas or anything, plugged into a 22 MacBook Pro. No problems with my computer but the hard drive is beeping and won’t show up there. I got it because I don’t pay for ICloud+ and I wanted to back it up to swap my data to a different MacBook.
