What makes guys with acute stuttering popular among women?

Several times I've heard stories about men with acute stuttering who are popular among women. And it was even described as some speech "charm". Meanwhile in my experience it's always opposite. Girls were saying it's cringe and repelling, but never charming or cute. And I'm curious what makes such difference?
