TPT banned district wide without notice

This morning I get off a conference call with a parent and go to pull a resource that I purchased over a year ago. I spoke to the parent about providing extra resources with the knowledge of what I had.

Except.. TPT wouldn’t load. It was blocked. Out of nowhere on a Friday morning.

The response we get? It’s not an approved district resource and go talk to someone at your school. Basically, use only what is provided through purchased curriculum and nothing else.

Why? Why can professionals not choose effective supplementary materials? Yes, there will be some that base too much off of TPT resources but where’s the trust in us? Where’s the belief that we should be respected in our decisions? I’m livid.

The purchased curriculums are never enough and they have gaps. Students don’t always understand it the way it’s presented. Countless times students need more time on a topic than what is provided in a purchased curriculum.

How and why are we making collaboration between teachers something wrong? (Of course I know the why, money and politics)

How is it that I can make something based off of a curriculum and my standards…..but not use my discretion to find outside resources that align with it???

Totally feels like I’m respected, appreciated, and trusted! /s
