Question for former contestants

Do you think your expertise category was integral in you getting cast on your season? I was in the running for season 2/3, but was ultimately passed over. I was talking with a friend who has been on multiple game shows in their lifetime and their opinion was my expert categories I selected were too generic and the network probably wasn’t interested.

I’m just trying to figure out if I need to rack my brain and think of some off-the-wall specialty or let the whole process just take its course like I didn’t last time.
