1st Pap Smear…do i get it over with?

hey everyone i’m 21F and recently went to my doctor due to some different concerns. however once she saw my age she reminded me about the dreaded pap smear i am due for, and was super insistent on me getting it done soon because she personally had cervical cancer detected when she did hers at 24. the thing is, i’m not sexually active and never have been. that being said, i feel like i can wait a bit to book the appointment but i know i will have to get it done eventually; so if i decide to go for it what should i expect? i don’t even use tampons, i’ve only ever used pads. and i know everyone is different down there but my mom had a rough sex life history because she struggled with a lot of pain and tightness down there before she got pregnant with me; so can that be hereditary? i didn’t bring up these concerns when i was with my doctor because it was my first time ever meeting her and she seemed pretty rushed to check me out of the appointment.. i know next time i see her she will likely remind me though and i don’t know what to do!!
