Started contract, contract got cancelled, then rehired for the same contract all in 48 hours. 2025 is going to be rough

So started a contract this week. Did the meet and greet on Monday. Picked up the badge. Met with the manager. Filled out paperwork and got my schedule. Good vibes all around and it went well.

Tuesday Trump announces he is planning to cut all federal funding immediately. 5pm my recruiter calls me being like wtf did something happen? The hospital just cancelled your contract. Clarify that no I did not just get arrested or bite someone in orientation and I'm equally clueless. Call my manager who is pissed who says upper management just decided they were cancelling all traveling contracts (there were 8 of us in orientation) due to budget reasons. But she really liked me and was going to talk to the financial people and see if there was anything they could work out.

Wednesday a judge blocks the executive order and the White House clarifies that Medicaid is definitely not getting cut. My manager calls me and says that the SICU's budget is a lot tighter than the MICU so she is going to submit a request for a traveler using the MICU but I would be working the same job cause SICU is the one that has worse staffing. Upper management approves it, my agency submits and the hospital sends out the new contract with the same rate.

So my 13 week assignment is now 15 weeks because the first contract ends after two weeks and a new 13 week one begins.

And yes when I went to work on Thursday I was in the SICU.

I have a feeling shit like this is going to get a lot more common this year.
