Played a game, some thoughts.

Last night I played 900 points 8 Glory against Trench Pilgrims with my Kingdom of Alba.

I had a Lieutenant, Sniper Priest, 2 Shock Troopers, 3 Yeoman (1 Infiltrator), an Observer, and three Machine Armor (1 MG, 2 Hammer shield).

I really like this game. I do.

But, within 10 minutes I had 5 dead models, and over an hour and 20 minutes of game I never, not ever once killed one of my opponents models. I think there are some serious balance issues with the rules in their current iteration.

Let's start with the MG. In the real war, the MG was TERRIFYING. But here it feels so bland, so uninspired and even though I shot it at the lowest of the low, I still couldn't actually kill anything with it. I think that the game would really benefit from some sort of enhancement to most of the guns. MG's for example I think should get +X (X=appropriate value) to injuries vs unarmored or lightly armored models.

Next up is the Machine Armor. I think it's too expensive for what it brings to the table. It's slow, takes a lot of positioning to get set up for the charge or for firing positions. My opponent and I talked about it and we feel that dropping the overall points on Machine armor by 10-15 would make a big difference by freeing up some space elsewhere for more upgrades.

The observer. It's not worth taking. It's not very good at all and I'd rather have spent that glory elsewhere. Not much to say, mine charged in, failed to kill or wound anything, and then failed the eye of god and fell down, got stabbed to death with bayonets. Not much fun really.

Shotguns are weird and work the opposite of how I'd expect them to. They have great accuracy at range, which I feel they should be brutal at half range.

These are just a few thoughts from last night's game. What do you all think? Is this game to swingy with it's dice, especially when it comes to injuries?
