is £30k as a student in London enough

Hope this is okay to post here.

Im a 20 year old, about to move to Sutton, London for a student placement year, where I'll be working full time and get a salary of £24k. I can also get £6k student loan.

I was over the moon about this, and excited about the money. I still am excited and certain I can make it work, but every single person in my life has turned around and said "are you sure you can afford to live in London on that?"

I know nothing about what living in London is like, and this will be my first proper "adult money" , so I was hoping people who know more than I do could help answer the question .

My instinct is that I'll be fine. I currently get £17k a year (student finance + scholarship) in Bath, which already has quite a high cost of living, and I am MORE than comfortable - like, I save more than I spend. But that's mostly because I've always been really conscious of how much money I spend and always held onto my money as much as I possibly can. My rent at the moment is £730 a month w/ bills, and that's really my main expenditure, I probably spend like £100 a month or less on groceries, and a bit more than that on going out with friends and stuff.

I imagine when I move I'll be living in a shared house with other students, but I know rent in London is expensive. I would love to hear from other people who have experience as students in London because I feel like I'll have plenty of money, but a lot of people in my life are concerned.

I would love to hear about any insights people have! Mostly it would be great to put my mum's fears to rest.
