Approved!! Timeline and Interview Experience
In April 2023, my fiancée arrived on a B2 visa. Two months later, close to her return flight, we realized that we didn’t want to be apart again. We decided to cancel the flight and get married. We submitted the package with the I-130, I-485, I-765, and I-131 forms, along with all the evidence we had at that time, such as travel photos, messages, gifts, and other documents supporting our relationship.
Shortly after, we received the notification for biometrics, and on the same day, her EAD was approved. Nine months passed without any updates until suddenly, the advance parole was approved. In August 2024, we received the letter for the interview scheduled for September 10.
The interview was relatively straightforward. The interviewer asked us basic questions about how and where we met, our names and dates of birth, where we work, and when we last traveled internationally.
After the questions, he requested evidence to verify our relationship. I had brought a folder with over 200 pages, but when I asked if he needed everything, he said no. He only required photos with our family members, the 2023 tax return, the joint bank account, and the car/health insurance with both names on them.
He asked us to leave the room while he scanned the new evidence. About five minutes later, he returned to hand us back the documents and let us go. The entire process took around 25 minutes.
After the interview, the status of our I-130 changed to "actively reviewing," while the I-485 still showed "Interview Scheduled." The next day, the I-485 status changed to "Case Approved," and two hours later, the I-130 status also changed to "Approved."
This happened at the USCIS office in Central NJ (Cranbury, NJ).
