Evolution of "Davos-safe"

So it looks like it's almost time for the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland. Probably best known as just "Davos" or "Davos (year)" to most. You know--the annual wintertime Alpine circle jerk where folks fly in from all over to hang out and party for a week and a half and congratulate each other on how smart, rich, and/or successful they are, while having a few deep conversations about how to save the world that are virtually the same year after year? Yeah, that one. I admit I've never been and won't be going anytime soon, but that's the curmudgeonly impression I've had for a long time.

Anyway, last year, for Davos 2023, we heard about all the behind-the-scenes measures taken to protect the conferencegoers from this really weird sickness that was going around back then (I forget the name, like my government told me to, but maybe you remember it?). We heard it called the "Davos-safe" approach. After that, if you had an event or a venue that was "Davos-safe," you were presumably doing something right, and also something reserved for the VIPs.

Anyone else wondering what it will look like this year? If last night's Golden Globes awards show was any indication, even the hardiest of the Davos-type set have really started to throw in the towel (or make that the respirator). We don't see behind the scenes, though. Maybe there's still plenty of hidden mitigation. I'm curious to hear whether anything has changed in terms of what "Davos-safe" will look like at Davos itself this year. Seems like it could go either way.

If anyone's going or knows someone who is, I'd love to hear about what the mitigation is like this year vs. last year if you can share, and I figured I'd post in case anyone else wants to know, too!

Why? TBH, I think it is tragic and horrifying--but also oddly fascinating--to see how behavior and attitudes have changed (or been revealed) in different groups, regions, etc. as the pandemic has dragged on.
