Baka may plumber po rito. Why would a shower drain and its effective area smell so bad after every shower?

Context: every time someone would use the shower, the area would smell so bad thereafter like there's poop somewhere. This is a newly renovated house. The drain's pipe, for all I know leads to the septic tank (and I think this is usually the case)? What might have gone wrong?
