PSA for those getting the White Gold

If you are a current Gold Card holder and decided to get the new White Gold style, be aware that the card that comes in the mail will have the same numbers as your current card. This means the card will already be active and will NOT need any sort of activation upon delivery. This is a security risk, if someone were to intercept your card before delivery it will be ready to be used at any store. To make matters worse, the envelope they use is not discreet and has a large blue American Express logo on it.

I say this because my girlfriend had her's taken out of her mailbox before she got home and started receiving random charges at different stores and gas stations in the area. While thankfully Amex already sent her a new card, she will be unable to use her Gold in the meantime. I received mine yesterday and sure enough, I didn't need to do any sort of activation and used it at a restaurant with no issues.

Make sure to track the progress of your card and make arrangements to get it as soon as it's delivered!

Edit: When I said old numbers I was referring to the actual card number, the new card will come with a new CVV and expiration date. This doesn't change the fact that the new card comes pre-activated though.
