What actor was the best legit athlete? (Tommy Lee Jones and Mahershala Ali were both PROBLEMS)
Seems like a good place to discuss this and inspire The Ringer to do a bracket.
TLJ is a candidate. All Ivy League guard for an undefeated team.
Mahershala was a contributor and rotation player for a decent Saint Mary’s basketball team.
Kurt Russell was a very good baseball player.
Those three are among the best actors who competed at a high level.
I’m disqualifying anyone who was primarily an entertainment wrestler - sorry Dave Bautista.
The Rock is a boring choice but maybe correct. Not sure what’s apocryphal or not but if he doesn’t get hurt and pave the way for Warren Sapp to switch from TE, who knows? But one start in 4 years so not a slam dunk. Terry Crewes was probably a better player. Burt Reynolds is in here somewhere.
OJ, Arnold, Jim brown, etc became legit-ish actors but mostly coasted on fame and charisma.
Who else should be in contention?
