Wait after the final interview

My on-site interview with an established biotech was about 6 weeks ago. I was told that I would hear back after 1 month or so because they just started the interviewing process. I reached out to the HM 2 weeks ago but I didn't hear back directly from the HM.

About 1 week ago, a recruiter from HR reached out and we had a short meeting to get info on my salary expectation, start dates, things that are in line with the phone screening interview. I asked the recruiter and was told that they are looking to fill this position within 2 weeks and I will hear from the HM.

The timeline is encroaching and it is radio-silent. The wait is a little excruciating because of a lot of what-if scenario thoughts, i.e. was my salary bracket too high. It is a little nerve racking because I like the position and company. I still chug along and apply elsewhere but it is tough.

Should I reach out to the HM or HR? Do you think I still am in consideration for the position? Any comments/suggestions would really be really helpful.
