My bite plate is driving me insane

So I'm currently two and a half months in with my braces and I got a bite plate yesterday. It's driving me absolutely insane. I sound so fucking stupid and I have to answer calls at work and I don't know how to eat food and now my bottom teeth are sore because I'm continuously hitting them against the plate. Anyone have a similar experience and or advice?🥲
