11600K + 3060 Ti on 1440p

I helped two of my friends built identical systems around four years ago. The latest titles we play are starting to struggle, with some fps games going as low as 40-50fps (Marvel Rivals, Warhammer 40k) and pretty much any other games (Hogwarts, BG3) limping along with low settings and DLSS enabled.

I tried their system to see for myself, and the experience was borderline unplayable, unpleasant at best. Not to mention they’re constantly running out of storage, limiting their available game library which is a hige hassle.

They’ve agreed to upgrade their PC a few parts at a time throughout the year.

What should be their first upgrade with a total budget of around $500 to $600? Keep in mind old parts will be resold to recoup some of the budget.
