People are frustrated that there's not more fight and protest from the liberals. I'm admittedly one of those numb, apathetic democrats.
I think I've reached a place of acceptance with this past election. The people have spoken. Donald Trump is the first republican to win the popular vote in 20 years.
Am I angry that Trump won? Sure. Do I think its likely that his presidency will be catastrophically bad? Absolutely. Am I willing to be proven wrong? 100%.
I think the American people need to experience some very negative consequences in order to move forward. They need to experience the economic and societal fallout from a Trump presidency. I think the Muslim and Latino Americans who voted for Trump are already reeling from the reality that a xenophobic administration will be shaping the next 4 years of their lives. Maybe they'll re-evaluate their priorities the next time around. Maybe, gasp, a woman wouldn't make such a bad president.
Maybe the Democratic party will re-evaluate their limp-dicked approach to politics and leadership. Maybe they'll stop pandering to corporations and lobbyists. Maybe they'll learn that they can't ignore and condescend to America's blue collar, rural voters.
Anyway, I'm not protesting or fighting. Part of me wants the American people to suffer a little bit... just enough for a wake-up call.
