Intimidated by Classic Community

I recently hit 60 a few weeks back, but how intimidated I am by the community has put the game on hold for me.

Before I say anything let me preface that I'm sure the entire community is not like this.

I started doing dungeon runs as a resto shaman, healing strath etc, couple of runs in I get told to kms because I don't understand how to heal a warrior with no shield.

I didn't understand the progression to getting into Onyxia as I hadn't played classic at max before (attunement). I knew I had to go to BrD but no one was willing to help and only wanted to do specific runs (can't remember the names in lfg). I'm not shocked by that, I get it I don't expect that but I was called a fucking idiot and reported for asking for help.

I want to get into the endgame but it just seems like I'm being punished for not knowing the meta etc and how to do thinks speed run esque, is there either a guide on it or even trying alliance? Is the community better than horde? I doubt it but who knows.

Anyways, some advice would be great and any info for guides too. Thanks
