Compostable diapers?

A friend of mine is using a compostable diaper service— they drop off clean diapers and pick up the dirty ones, and compost them. I haven’t had a chance to check in with her— the baby is brand new and I don’t want to bother her with questions. Anyone look into this type of service? I’m sure it’s not cheap, but aside from that, any downsides? My husband is not into the idea of cloth diapers, though he said he’d give it a whirl if it was important to me.
