Frustrating experience with CS as a couple

We are on the road now for 9 month Traveled through some first world and third world countries (South, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand) with pretty much the same outcome on CS. Got 3 couches in all. Wrote a hell of a lot of requests, all personalized, all under 2 weeks of arriving, managed to get 4 reviews to be even considered. Outcome the same: half the time ignored (which is okay) and the other half the time: sorry unavailable. NZ was the worst. At least 2 weeks in advance notice and even then, sorry already hosting. So I just wondered, besides venting my frustration, if anybody else traveling with a companion had the same kind of bad luck as we or it is pretty much us.
