Couchsurfing in NYC

So I'm going to be over in NYC Aug 14-22 and i was going through the couchsurfing website searching locals. I was quite surprised to see very few active users.

I use couchsurfing quite a lot here in Dublin, Ireland for hosting and generally meeting up to hang with travellers.

Are many reddit users here active in the community in NYC or do they know of many active users?
